well you didn't say anything about type of application or your preference...
you can try to build an oscilloscope, balloon machine, mp3 player, vending macine, segway...

Tempted as I am to post yet another link back to
my electronic rubiks cube, I shall refrain for now.

So....
Has anyone else come across the the acoustic
modem project that uses bongo drums?

he he, I sure know what I would build: an audio amp of course
you can go as deep as you want in this subject

I agree with panic mode that you at least need a direction, maybe lets start with digital versus analogue?
