I want to build the simplest discrete op-amp possible

I want to build an op-amp using discrete transistors, but I want to use the fewest number of transistors possible (for simplicity's sake). First, I found and built this design:

The problem with this design is that the inverting input limits the low swing on the output -- I can't use negative feedback to amplify or invert my signal! (btw, I modified the circuit by adding a voltage follower on the output, and having Vcc = +10V and Vee= -10V).

Soooooo, can someone please point me in the right direction? How can I modify this circuit, ideally with a small number of components, to get an op-amp like circuit?

(obviously, AWESOME linearity/performance and such are not a big concern for me)

Thanks in advance!!
