IC equivalent Substitute

Hi All,
The IC is in domestis Singer sewing machine has failed.
I am looking for a replacement.
The part number etched on the IC is 10 IN 3 in the top and 362K2F in the bottom. It has 8 legs on the top and bottom.

Looking for help.

What does that mean?!?!
Can you send a picture of the chip? It might be a programmable chip, in which case you're SOL.

I forgot to add.... What makes you think the chip is bad?

16 pins, DIP or SMT!!!!

Top and bottom? Why not simply say 16 pins? I'm not convinced that's what he meant.

Might be a house code or a custom chip.
Do you know what it does, if its speed control you might be able to retrofit a speed control pedal from another machine.
