In spec What dose that mean to you

Don't buy the cheap Chinese no-name-brand LED. Its datasheet does not say how long it lasts (or how soon it fails) at 100mA.
At 100mA, its nominal brightness is 10 lumens, its max is 15 lumens and its minimum brightness is zero lumens!
 
The Lumex LEDs are double the size of normal 5mm LEDs.
They use their leads to carry heat away to a large pcb copper area.
 
They look like small heat sink on the Leds. There two back to back diodes inside plus the LED inside.
