Karcher k2 compact keeps running after supplying power

I think am jinxed because now the pressure washer isn't working correctly.

I was happily blasting through the dirt on my car, when all of a sudden the pressure washer switched itself off.

I let it cool down for over half an hour and it still wouldn't switch on.

Naturally I opened it up to see if the motor was bad. That's when I noticed the hose clamp was stuck. I had to pry it off with a flat head screwdriver.

I removed the hose and got spat at. Now it switches on but it keeps running.

I took it apart with the water supply still connected but I didn't see any obvious leaks.

Does anyone know how to fix this?

The switch off (while input power is on) is typically controlled by a pressure switch, so they stop when the valve in the lance is released and the output pressure build up.

The only way to stop it with an open water outlet is turn the main power off.

It sounds like a clog or kink in the outlet pipe caused the problem??

So I unclipped the hose from both the lance and the machine itself. The clip on lance was again very tight. As soon as I unclipped the hose from the lance, water started coming out of the other end of the hose.

Is it possible it was just an air lock? It seems to be ok now .

i think the issue was caused by an airlock in the hose, which prevented proper water flow and caused the pressure washer to keep running. by unclipping the hose and releasing the trapped air, you've likely resolved the problem. If it's working fine now, it seems like the airlock was the main culprit. Just make sure to check for any other blockages in the hose or nozzle that could cause similar issues in the future.
