LG DU-50PZ60, problem with screen!

I have a Flatron Plasma LG DU-50PZ60 50" tv. In the top left conner of the screen there is this box. Inside the box there is what seems to be "paint" running down the screen. The rest of the screen shows a normal picture. Whats wrong with my tv. Any way to fix this on my own?

Most probably the PDP (the Plasma Display Panel) is duff, which is generally as much as a new TV.

The tv was looked at, well i was told that it needed a motherboard that was like 300 dollars
