Looking for type of part/specs

Here is an explanation of how a GFCI works and looks inside for EE's. (not for a layman but clearly shown)

Except yours uses both L1 L2 120+120 split phase 240V and shares function with heat switching and does not look anything the same but similar purpose for leakage detection.


I initially thought your coil was a Normally Closed Latching Contacts with a solenoid. I couldn't tell it was just a CM BALUN being used to detect an unbalanced current.

Rb the 20kohm represents a 6 mA leak on a single or dual 120V line. They must latch off with this test. This imbalance is how they simulate and detect a leak by assuming the unbalanced current must be an external leak to earth ground , without actually measuring that path.

Sometimes kitchen toasters in humid weather set off these devices simply from the smoke particles in the air via the exposed toast heater wire with humidity, which is a false alarm.
