looking for VCO with the range of 800-1000MHZ or more

DDS instead of RF VCO

Although the DDS chip here only goes upto about 40Meg it should be posiible to use harmonics to reach the 1Gig you require ?

A microcontroller could perform the A_D required for a true VCO function.
At least it's something to think about ???
