I would like to go looking on the web and get a load of models that i dont have right now, must i always have an include line for these downloaded models everytime i want to use one? Or is there some way to make them like the models that come with LTspice and you just go component and select the one you want?
you can take everything from .model to the end of the file, and copy/paste it into the standard.bjt file. then you don't even need any spice directive to use it. it will come up in the list when you open a "change transistor type" window.
It does not give me the option of clicking 'details' under the general heading (as shown in 1st screen shot)
But under security heading i can see permission status which i am assuming is what it wanted me to do? and i see that i have full permission at the moment anyway (screen shot 8)
I haven't read the entire thread, but here is how I add transistor models to LTspice:
1. Make sure LTspice is not open.
2. Copy this portion of the model file:
3. With Notepad, open the file C:\Program Files\LTC\LTspiceIV\lib\cmp\standard.bjt, move the cursor to the bottom of the file, and paste the model that you just copied.
4. Save the file.
Start LTspice and open a new or existing schematic window.
Place an NPN symbol on the schematic.
Right-click on the NPN symbol and select Pick New Transistor.
A window will open with all available NPN models.
The new model name should be at the bottom of the list.
Highlight it and click OK.
The cmp directory was on read only so i unchecked that but it still didnt work.
Then i thought why not make sure the entire LTspice folder is not on read only so i did and unchecked that too. Hope thats ok?
Well anyway I managed to save the cmp file in notepad
However when i open LTspice and right click on new transistor i do see the new transistor but its values of vceo and ic are zero
