How are you defining "amplitude" in this context?
When considering ripple on a DC supply, if we measure it with an oscilloscope then it is easiest to measure the peak to peak value by just looking at the screen.
If you have one of the nice new digital scopes, you could set the scope to measure the ripple as an average or an RMS value.
But what ever you do, always state what you have measured, for example :
"The ripple on the 100 volt supply was measured as 3 volts peak to peak."
