microcontroller project with speech recognition part

Hi everyone! I am doing a microcontroller project. My microcontroller is PIC16f87. In this project, I want control the whole system using voice. Can you list some possible ways to do this speech recognition part ? Thank you very much!

I don't think you are going to get anywhere close to usable with a PIC. Here is what a dedicated IC for that purpose looks like: Sensory's Interactive Speech™ Integrated Circuit Product Line. Maybe a PIC based clap-on/clap-off controller.

Thank you. The project allows me to use such ICs to implement the speech recognition. Since I haven't taken any Digital Signal Processing course, do I have to pick up knowledge about it to get acceptable result ?
