Multiple LED flashlight?

I have been looking for people that built LED flashlights and all I can find is single LED flashlights. I wanted to know if I any one knew a site that talked about a multiple LED flashlight? It would be good if they had a schematic to.

Thanks,
Kyle

A single LED flashlied can be easely modified to flash multiple LED's by buffering the output (with a transistor) to drive multiple LED's.

If the output of the scematic you found is strong enough you can add more LED's by adding then in parallel to the existing LED (giving each led there own current limiting resistor)

The best schematic for a LED flashlight that I've seen so far was published by
www.elektor-electronics.co.uk
in the november 2002 edition.Sadly I am not allowed to upload the article due to copyright restrictions. You could try asking them for a copy though.

What I can say though,

Some of best LEDS you can buy are made by a company called Nichia (japan) ref NSPW 500BS [6400mCd!]

Maxim make a couple of ic's for driving leds, though a PIC microcontroller might be more usefull especially if it has an A/D converter (12c672) so u can monitor battery voltage and use this info to control the voltage converter.

You may also want to take a look at battery chargers for Lithium-ion cells as they are very suitable for this application.
