Ok so this is probably pretty simple, but I am no electronics maven but I do have some ability. I would like to build a system whereby I would push one of five switches which would light one of five remote corresponding led lights. The light can be switched off at it's location. Ideally it would also be wireless powered by an ac/dc transformer. thanks in advance.

I dont understand.

Will you run wires between the the switches and the LEDs? How many wires?

What does "The light can be switched off at it's location" mean?

What does "wireless powered by an ac/dc transformer" mean?

if I have to I will run wires between switches and leds but if possible similar to wireless doorbell no wires between switch and tone or in this case led.

light comes on when switch activated, at remote location light switched off or reset to no light which readies it for next activation.

wireless see above doorbell example, power source ac to dc transformer instead of batteries.

So you want a five-function radio remote control?

Something like this?
