I've been meaning to ask- what does the character in your avatar mean?

It's 'Jitsu', from 'Ju Jitsu' (as I'm a 3rd Dan Ju Jitsu instructor) - it means various things (as Kanji does), but essentially 'way', 'technique', 'method'.
