I am trying to connect a op amp squarewave generator to a 4017 decade counter then to an lm386 amplifer. The idea is to generate a tone, run the tone through a 16 step sequence and out through an amplifier. Basically a synthesizer/sequencer kinda idea. everything is complete and working, i just cant get the output from the op amp (oscillator) to run through the decade counter then out through the amplifier.

We don't know what kind of opamp oscillator you have and we don't know if its output level is high enough to clock the 4017.
We don't know why you have a 555 and don't know what it does.
We don't know what you want the circuit to do. The tone will not play in a sequence. The tone will be continuous and will step the DC outputs from the 4017 on each cycle of the tone.
