hi everyone

Given V1 = -.41800 - .51918j and V2 = -0.27126 - .35264j
The question is: " Does V1 lead or lag V2 ? "
The answer in the book is : Delta_phi = -1.27 degree -- if possitive V1 leads.

------------

My question is how do i know that V1 lead or lag V2 ?

Thanks everyone

Calculate phase angles.

for v1 P'angle=tan -1 .519/.418

for V2 = tan-1 .352/.271.

All situated on 3rd qau as all real and img numbers are negative.

Then two phase angles are for v1 51.15 and for v2 52.4.
It shows that v2 is leading by 1.25 degree(52.4-51.15)

Draw it on graph paper and try tp do some calculation
s.

its Riad:

basic equations of the phasor:

ex:
V=a+jb

in phasor:

V=root of (a2+b2)<tan-1 (b/a)

the part after (<) gives you the angle of V
