Here is a fun problem:

You are to design a system for a year-round site at 40oN
latitude. This system powers an instrumentation system and
a directional radio transmitter. The expected minimum
horizontal global irradiance is 4.0 kWh/m2/day in June and
1.5 kWh/m2/day in December. Ambient low/high temperatures
are 10oC/30oC in June and -25oC/-10oC in December. The
load's daily energy requirement is 0.5 kWh/day in December
and 1.0 kWh/day in June. The PV array will be rack-mounted.

1.) If 99% availability is desired, what should DOA be?

DOA? Dead On Arrival?

direction of arrival? degree of accuracy? digital or analog? dirty old ass?

my guess is 78 degrees. :p What school assignment is this for?!

2) What color is the rack?

OK, I have to ask, which planet is this?
Cause you're about 4x the solar energy density encountered on Earth. No solar concentrator is mentioned. How you do even say what time is June on Mercury??
