Hi all,
The following design has serious flaw but it still works which means it's not a proper and professional EE design .

Please tell me ,

1) what's serious mistake in this flawed circuit (which works fine)
2) could you give me suggestion of any kind to check the continuity in the big rectangular box ? you can use chip or other component but the big rectangular box with voltage regulator being the same.

Thanks

Well, first of all is this regulator used as a welder? Because direct shorts to ground need oodles of juice. Perhaps you should read your textbook on this HW question.

Unless the regulator is contained within an IC or module, this is either a very cheap heating circuit or a fatally flawed idea.
