Please help me to polish off my Home Cinema

Hi there, i'm building a Home Cinema (slowly but surely) and have got an electrical problem concerning the lighting. I can not find what i want in any stores so i think i'm going to have to make it, but knowing little about circuit design i am a bit knackard.

What I want to make is an IR Dimmer Switch which has 2 commands ONLY

1: Dim from 100%ON down to OFF.

2: Dim up from OFF to 100% ON.

These 2 commands need to be controlled by different IR commands.

It will be spliced into the power cable of a rope light. The lights are NOT LED's.

Can you help me out? I hope so, as Princess Lea once said "Your our only hope..."

There are literally hundreds of remote control electrical switches and dimmers already on the market. Everything from the X10 stuff to commercial devices. Why build something that could burn down your house when you could buy something for a few dollars, it is safer.

I would try an electrical supply store, or one of the "big-box" retailers like Home Depot, etc.
