Angry Badger Member May 1, 2011 #1 Hi, What is the 'STOP' layer for in Eagle? I'm creating a package for a heatsink and noticed that some of the stock library items have a tSTOP and bSTOP over the pads / holes for the mounting pins. Thanks in advance for any help. Last edited: May 1, 2011

Boncuk New Member May 4, 2011 #3 Hi, here is an example where to use the solder stop mask. The voltage regulator is mounted horizontally on the PCB and you don't want the solder stop underneath the IC for better cooling. Using the solder stop mask in that area the PCB manufacturer will leave a blank copper area there for better heat conduction. The solder stop mask is automatically generated around pads.
