Usually you only have a static address if you want to run a server and then, via DNS lookup, your IP address is usually public knowledge anyway.I do not think that is the case for people with static IP addresses. I would have to call my provider and request a change.
I wish I could do that. Well I can but it's useless because my ISP blocks all the TCP, FTP, etc ports so I can't run a server. I would have liked to put a PIC on the net but I'm not gonna pay an extra $40 a month to do it.blueroomelectronics said:Try using a free Dynamic DNS service.
At my school we have direct fiber-optic to copper in our dorm rooms. LAN speed tops out at around 30MB/s and I'm unhappy if my internet speed drops under 1MB/s. I'm sad to be home because the fastest I can get at home is ~580K/s (5Mbps line).Marks256 said:my isp sucks. Too bad it is the only way i can get internet...
WILDBLUE SUCKS!!!!!! I have almost hit my FAP (fair access policy), again for the 5th time! I am only allowed 7.5GB per rolling 30 days. The salesman lied to us, and said we got 10GB per rolling 30 days... I can't wait for college. Full access to full T1 (during the night)...
I had Crysis a week before it came out.Krumlink said:At 30MB/s you could probably download a illegal copy of HL2 in about 5 minutes
