resistor pack for voltage drop

Im trying to get a voltage drop from 9 output lines from a pic from 5 - 3v, and because its pcb mounted ive been told the best way forward is with a resistor pack, but to be honest i just cant visualise how to do it. Could anybody please help?

I assume that the PIC is running on 5 V and you are trying to feed 9 inputs that are running on 3V and shouldn't be fed the 5V when the PIC ouputs go high.

Something like this

is a good way of providing lots of resistors of the same value so that you can make 9 potential dividers with just a few components.

I think they are saying use a resistive divider to step down each 5V output to 3V.

So a resistor pack wired up to make a bunch of resisitive dividers, or a resistor pack where it's alreayd like that internally.

Not the way I would do it, but it's a cheap, quick and dirty way to do it, as long as the loads don't draw too much current from the PIC outputs.

You can also use 5-3V logic level translation ICs to do the job which can be better as power consumption is concerned especially if the load likes to draw more current from the PIC pins.
