Sensor for auto car windshield wiper?

I need help here. I want to know what is the best sensor to use for auto car windshield wiper. When the rain drops, the wiper will automatically turn on. So, what is the best sensor for the project and where is the best place to put it. Also, what about sensitivity? How do I adjust how much water is pouring onto the windshield with the speed of the wiper?
