Hello all,

I am working with Simcom A7680C -LANS.
My problem is the VoLTE setup anyone have worked on this ?

The network i am using works on VoLTE hence need help

cheers

I have read the data sheet completely.

my issue is the IMS APN which the 7680 uses for Volte connection.

CID1 IPV4V6 Jionet
CID8 IPV4V6 ims

cid8 comes automatically for Volte.

but the PDP connects then disconnects this goes on forever for CID8

if i do this

CID1 IPV4V6 "ims"
CID8 IPV4V6 "ims.mnc864.mcc405.gprs"

then the PDP CID8 latches on but no registration

cheers

Hello,

It sounds like you’re working on a project using the SIMCom A7680C module, and you're having trouble with setting up VoLTE (Voice over LTE). This can be a bit tricky, but I'll help guide you through the general steps.

General Steps for VoLTE Setup with SIMCom A7680C:

  1. Check Network Compatibility:
    • First, ensure that your carrier supports VoLTE (Voice over LTE) and that your SIM card is provisioned for VoLTE service.
    • Some carriers may require a special configuration or specific firmware versions to enable VoLTE. Contact your carrier to confirm this.
  2. Firmware Version:
    • Make sure you're using the latest firmware version for the SIMCom A7680C. VoLTE functionality may not be fully supported in older firmware versions.
    • You can check the current firmware version and update it if needed through the AT command interface. You can typically do this by sending the AT+CGMR command to the module.
  3. VoLTE Settings on the Module:
    • Use the AT commandsto configure the VoLTE settings. Some common commands for VoLTE setup might include:
      • AT+CSCON=1 — This command is used to enable the voice call setup over LTE.
      • AT+CSQ — Check signal quality to ensure you’re getting a strong LTE signal.
      • AT+CGDCONT=1,"IP","APN_NAME" — Ensure that the correct APN (Access Point Name) for data services is set. The APN may vary depending on your carrier.
    • Check SIMCom’s AT command manual for specific commands for VoLTE, as this might differ slightly based on the firmware version.
  4. VoLTE Profile Settings:
    • Sometimes, enabling VoLTE requires specific Profile Settings or IMS (IP Multimedia Subsystem) configurations. This will depend on the network and the module you’re using.
    • IMS Configuration: Ensure that the module is properly configured for IMS services (used for VoLTE). This may include settings for the IMS server, proxy, and authentication credentials.
    • Use commands like AT+CSQ (signal quality), AT+CREG (network registration), or AT+CGREG (GPRS network registration) to verify network registration status and connectivity.
  5. Test VoLTE Connection:
    • Once the settings are applied, make a test call over the LTE network to check whether VoLTE is being used. You can monitor the data transfer rate during the call to confirm if the call is being routed over LTE instead of 2G/3G.
    • To confirm VoLTE is active, you can check the call status using commands like AT+CSQ, AT+CGREG, or monitor the signal strength during a call.
  6. Diagnostic Tools:
    • If you’re still having trouble, use a Wireshark or similar diagnostic tool to capture the IMS signaling and ensure that VoLTE signaling is working correctly.
    • Check the logs to see if there are any errors or specific messages indicating issues with the VoLTE setup, such as missing IMS configuration or network compatibility problems.
  7. Carrier-Specific Considerations:
    • Some carriers require specific settings or updates for VoLTE to work. Be sure to check any additional documentation or support from your carrier, as they may have particular configuration settings or requirements.

Troubleshooting:

  • Voice calls drop after a few seconds: This could indicate that the VoLTE setup is incomplete or there's a network issue. Double-check the IMS configuration and APN settings.
  • No LTE data: If data connectivity isn’t available, make sure the APN settings are correct and that the module is properly connected to the LTE network.
  • Weak signal or call setup failure: Verify that your device has sufficient LTE coverage and signal strength for VoLTE. Check the network registration status with AT+CREG?.

Conclusion:

Setting up VoLTE on the SIMCom A7680C can be straightforward if all the configurations are correctly applied, but it can also depend on network-specific settings or firmware compatibility. Ensure you’re using the correct firmware version, verify IMS settings, and ensure network compatibility.

If you’re looking for more components for your project or need additional support, you can visit Xecor, an electronic components distributor. They can help you source the parts you need for your VoLTE setup or any other components for your design.

Best of luck with your setup, and feel free to reach out if you need more help!
