simple question (I find ETO easyer for help)

Hi,

there is a final part of a college assighnment I have to complete, it is about how digital devices work and how digital works as a concept,

the past three things I have to write about are:

samplers
effects units
processing units

once I can get a simple explanation from you guys on how they work I can write expand the information.
