Texture Analysis using Image Processing

hi frnds, i have to classify different texture images as Smooth, Coarse,
Grainy, or Regular based on statistical values like mean, standard deviation, entropy etc. of an image.
I am using BMP image formats. So i want ranges of values of statistical quantities for particular texture type. so dat when i find values for particular image, den i ll be able to classify it as smooth, coarse or whatever type it is..
I am doing dis project using MATLAB software..

This isn't really a matlab software forum. You might get a better response if you find a site dedicated to matlab or statistical analysis.
