Toaster repair?

This discussion already exists but it is closed for further comments.
I had the same problem with an 11 month old toaster, the solenoid would not activate to hold the lever down.
It was due to a broken nichrome wire on the heating element.
I used a copper sleeve to rejoin the two two ends and now the toaster is working again.
