I have a TV that won't power on, I've taken it apart and was wondering if I've found the problem
I'm a complete novice and any advice will be appreciated
I was wondering if the component in the picture could be the issue there's slight corrosion on the pins. The writing on the component says 181516 700
I'm not sure what it is or what it's supposed to do and trying to teach myself is becoming difficult

Nothing seems to look wrong there, it's VERY unlikely you can simply visibly spot a fault.

It would help if you mention the country you're in, and the make and model of the set.

Sorry, but it's an obscure cheap Chinese TV, and as far as I'm aware you can't find service information to download?.

The fault could be pretty well anywhere, first thing would be to check if the standby PSU is working, this powers the processor on the main board, which tells the main PSU to fire up when you turn the set on. If you're lucky the outputs from the PSU might be labelled?.

Welcome to the world of "Not enough info" Almost any thing can be fixed "IF YOU CAN GET THE PARTS AND INFO FROM THE MANUFACTURER" Not likely. If you are in love with learning electronic repair, buy another TV and use this as a learning tool. Study YouTube videos, get some beginner tools and be careful around electricity, It can BITE. Enjoy.
