Before the update, all threads were in date order and new replies or new threads always appeared at the top.

Sticky threads are always on the top of the page, then come the regular threads. Check the screenshot of the same forum from before the upgrade stage.

Note that in your pic of "the before", Stickies and Threads are clearly delineated, that is not the case now.

Put a straight edge on the top and bottom of the text relative to the ICONS.

No, those have been popping up for a long time, even when logged in. A number of posts have asked about the annoying things, which have not been answered by anyone who knows about them / can do anything about them.
