using PICKIT2 AND 3 issues

been using both and recently came upon an issue of COMMUNICATION.
I connect the pickit as usual and then click on TOOLS then CHECK COMMUNICATION.
I have 5 boards and only one wants to COMMUNICATE.
Was thinking before I added all the extra switches etc, I had good communication before installing all the switches and leds etc.
Wondering if the mosfet for reverse battery is correct one?
I need to check the polarity etc. on the mosfets if in fact they are N mosfet?
Suggestion on checking mosfet type?

I have several Pickit3's.. Once they cock up the USB you need a reboot ( or if you know how, disconect the hub and reconnect) Never happened with the old Pickit 2.

I have a TL866N II and it never drops out.. It is now my go to programmer.

I have had to reprogram some of my PICkit2s several time. All that's needed is a working PICkit2.

There's a VERY good chance that there's nothing wrong with the programmer, just the circuit it's connected to/way it's being used.

It worked at one point...

Pickit 3 isn't a very powerful device.. You can barely power 250mA with them. Once they falter the reboot is very necessary.. USB hubs have internal trips and just power off, Laptops are the worst.

If I have to, I'll power with one USB whilst using the pickit 3 in another.. As I said, for some reason the pickit 2 was far more stable.

The PK4 is far better at supplying power, which is why I moved to it - I've been considering the PK5?.

As I said.. I really never moved out of pic18... ( 63 now so probably wont) and the TL866N II does the job.
If I use the pic32 I use the Mikroe IDE and programmer.

Also! All of my products are powered so programming is never an issue..
