I was just wondering if the db-9 in the schematic a male or female version. Seeing that the GND (pin5) is oriented at the far right of the pinout, i assume it's male?
say i was connecting my pic to a handphone through a max232.. between the max232 and the phone, an on board db9 male header provides the insertion for the handphone serial data cable which is female.
From the perspective of the male serial socket which is on my board,
pin3 would be the transmission from my mcu out to the PC
and
pin2 would be the receiving from the PC into my mcu
(assuming the pinouts are based on nigel's schematic)
