Some where you might stumble into your board. Most of these boards are copied from the data sheet or other recourses.
Just be aware the LTC1799 is but a toy generator, they are temperature and voltage sensitive and drift all over the place, not useful for anything serious.
With the information I've found so far from members like yourself is that there are much more reliable VFO circuits out there that are more stable and not prone to drift.

You may as well build it as you've already got it, just to play with
However, as you specify 'VFO' I presume it's for a transmitter/receiver, and you don't really want a resistor controlled oscillator for that, nor do you want a square wave output.
'VFO' isn't one of the suggested applications on the datasheet.
