How to reduce 9volt battery to opperate a 5 volt micro fan would rather the easiest solution thanks.
 
Use a 5 volt regulator like the LM7805 which can be bought just about anywhere and can be seen here.

That assumes this fan does not draw any power to speak of. A link to the fan data sheet would be nice. Also, the fan likely will not run long on a standard 9 volt battery.

The simplest solution (though not ideal) might be just a suitable series resistor. Pity we don't have more details of the fan and how concerned the OP is about fan speed.
 
Yeah, I thought about that and it is commonly done for small fans.

A series zener diode of the appropriate voltage and power rating would also work.
