Good news and bad news
All:
The bad news is that the project is changing from the original design (solenoid valve holds until the next button is pushed) to one that only holds each solenoid valve for a set time period.
The good news is that if it is time controlled, I can now use 555 timers (something I can easily handle by myself).
I'll repost under a separate thread if the project again changes or if I run into problems.
