Kind of depends. Where I work, there lots of people just show up thinking that's all they really need to do for their paycheck. Really pisses me off to one of them say "no, it's not my job", and I barely maintain, when that supervisor walks over to me, asks me to drop what I'm doing, and take care of it.
Usually, arguing with the boss is a bad idea, use to get people fired. Now days, just means you don't have to work if you don't feel like it.
$4.00 doesn't seem like a huge fine, unless that's a week's pay for her or something.
