Do you need a Deluxe Analogue Power Supply?

I think you are right, a higher PWM frequency is likely the way to go. I will have to experiment and find out how high with what duty cycle is best. I really had hopes for the micro, it would be so much more an elegant solution, allowing all sorts of design changes and possibilities. But, sometimes the best way to drive a nail is still a hammer.
