It's probably just been bolted on upside down
On the car park theme though, my daughter lives in the Netherlands and usually when she comes over brings her car on the ferry - but many UK car parks now use ANPR to clock you in and out, and while they will accept the Dutch number plates going in, they won't accept them coming back out, so you can't get out the car park
You also can't press the button for help, as you're on the wrong side of the car
So, you get out the car, walk round and press the button - and eventually someone comes out to help - meanwhile there's a big queue of angry motorists behind you!.
