Computers are USB "Master" devices; you cannot connect two directly together via USB. At best nothing will happen, at worst one or both may be damaged.
A computer needs to be connected to a USB slave device for it to do anything practical.
You could just use a USB memory stick, or for two way communications a pair of cheap USB Ethernet adapters is probably the lowest cost option.
You can get those for less than £5 each if you search ebay etc.
