Neither do bumblebees or hummingbirds.
 
I watched a video of a baby albatross (pretty big bird) making its maiden flight. It did fine, gaining stability in about one second. Flight must be programmed into their little brains.
I tried to fly when I was a kid. Nearly killed myself.
