My synthesiser

I had a little more success later on, but can't get it to sound as good as it has previosly; which doesn't really make sense.

I started trying to design my own in such a manner that the signal only passes through the LDR, inducing no distortion. I intended to have the LED on bright, and dim when loud signals occur. I know that that gives a slower attack time when using an LDR, but its just an experimant really. I had some success using the signal to modulate the frequency of a 555, with a filter on the LED output, but the effect is sutble to say the least. Works nicely to soften up piano type sounds, and makes bass drums more wooly, but not worth the effort of connecting it really :lol:

I actually have a nice VCA chip, one of the THAT ones. £4.58 it cost me , hehe, I intend to use it for a synths VCA section, if I can design/copy some kind of envelope voltage control section.
