Power wheels receiver upgrade

Hi all,

So I upgraded my sons 4wd power wheels going from 4 x 380s to 4 x RS550s and a 12v 8 ah lipo battery. It runs although quite loud and not much quicker and the engine start sound happens every so often, so feel under peak load the weelye RX77 receiver is struggling. just thinking if I upgraded the mosfets to IRF3205s and add heat shields this may get me better performance and avoid the car tripping. Does anyone else have any ideas? Or experiences with these things?

All of these motors have about the same max RPM at 12v. The higher numbered motors will have more stall torque (in general) and get up hills, across wet ground better. They will also accelerate to top speed a bit quicker.

However, they also draw more current when stuck. I hope you have some sort of automatic shutoff or overheating (fusing) system because those batteries will just keep delivering power across your stalled motor and light it on fire eventually. These kids toys are not made of fire resistant "FR" plastics as required for household appliances. They may light up in a few seconds - especially aftermarket parts or parts away from the battery.

Good luck
