Audio splitter troubles

ok i just plugged in my drum set and mp3 player and didnt get any sound

i hooked the output to a pair of small PC speakers that run on 4AAs

i then plugged headphones into the output of the mixer and still no sound

whats wrong?

do i need an amp to test this?

what about plugging onto my PC speaker system?

If the pair of small PC speakers work when your drum set and mp3 player feed them then the mixer should work the same.

The pair of small PC speakers that run on 4AAs should have worked when fed by the mixer because the battery powers their speaker amp.

The mixer should drive headphones at a very low level and without any bass.

In your pic, it looks like the breadboard's ground wire isn't connected.

in the pic, the wire in the circle is not a ground
i put it there for a bit to mark one of the output lines

that one connected to the right audio phone jack.

That wire sure looks like it connects to pin 3 of both ICs.

i have 4 pics here

1 and 2 are just shots of the bread board in 2 angles

3 is the left of the BB and 4 is the right of the BB

i starting to get the feeling that i left a connection out by the capacitors but im just so confused with it on a wiring sheet compared to what i have on the BB :?

the pics

It would be so much easier to see wiring if a pcb or Veroboard was used.
The "audio out phone ground" is also supposed to be connected to the ground junction of the two batteries and also to the ground terminals of all the input jacks.

well ive never used them before so i stuck with the BB

it is

its just not in the pics

theres a wire going to all the output and input phone ground threads to the ground on the chip, (pin 3), to the pos./neg. between the batteries and anywhere else it is called for in the wiring sheet

on the BB there is a green line...that is where all the grounds go

ok i did yet another test by hooking up my headphones and mp3 player

for some reason the mixer is myking my mp3 player freak out and turn on and off

now i cant get it to turn on so i switched to my CD player and still no sound at all

i have yet to hook this all to my computer speakers

Hi Moody,
I forgot you are using far away batteries. Then the 9V rails should have 10uF caps to ground on the breadboard like this:

thanks for that AG

i just finished putting that wiring in a program called circuit maker
my and my brother dont know how to test circuits on the program so if someone could put the circuit in a test program that might help too

or if someone can teach us how to use the testing part of the program it might help

i will stop by the shack tomarrow and pick up those caps and then test it out
