Post 15?

Is it a buzzer or a speaker?

You set duration as an integer but then pass a float..

try delayus(1910) I doubt that the delayms() will accept floats..

from post #15...
Code:
Dim C As Byte
Dim D As Byte
Dim E As Byte
Dim F As Byte
Dim G As Byte
Dim a As Byte
Dim b As Byte
dim Duration as integer // length of time note is played 333ms 1/3 of a second

c=1.91
d = 1.70
e=1.50
f=1.43

duration = 1.91
Since all of these variables are declared 'as byte' or 'as integer', all of the assignment statements will be automatically rounded to an integral type for you... c, d, e, and duration will be set to 2, f will be set to 1

Also, instead of 'as integer' 'as word' would be better since time can't be negative.

will try both suggestions.
this is a passive buzzer that is supplied with the super starter kit unio r3 project by elegoo.com
was contemplating trying out the Ardunio sketcj using said buzzer as per the lit instructions and see just how loud the buzzer really is.
The video link I posted, the sound was pretty loud

made suggested changes. While testing I asked my wife if she thought it was to loud or ?
She couldn't hear anything. Just as I suspected, she needs hearing aids.
trying to compare the different tones but it just mixes it all together.
Will hack at it after church and breakfast

Comment from the peanut gallery, from one who has learned his lesson:

Post #24 states " made suggested changes."

Changes made:

> variables changed to WORD

Changes NOT MADE:

> Still setting WORD values to decimal values, all less than 2.

> Still using DelayMS with those values.

Therefore:

The defined "notes" of

C=1.91
D = 1.70
E=1.50
F=1.43

all result in:

DelayMS(1)

which all result in a square wave with a period of 2mS, a note of 500Hz.

1. Change the DelayMS( ) statements to DelayUS( )

2. Multiply the "note" values by 1000.

Gentlemen, recognize the Sisyphean nature of this task.

tumbleweed, thanks for porting the tone module. Nice work!

Couldn't help but comment. My last on this topic.

What version of swordfish are you using (open IDE Help | About...)?
If you're up to date it should say "Version 2.2.3.6 - ICC 1.2.0.7"

What error message(s) do you get?

I'm going to go out on a limb and assume you have an older version that doesn't support
declarations with initializers.

Try using the attached version instead. It compiles fine for me using the 18F43K22

Code:

Also, when you're using the intosc.bas module you should remove the line
Code:
Config FOSC = INTIO67 'internal oscillator
from your main program since intosc.bas will automatically take care of that for you, and it will only confuse things.

I have version 2.2.30 icc 1200
tried updating and error occurred. I have the paid version but won't update?
will try your attached file
thanks

I am installing Swordfish on my wife's computer since I can't access the Swordfish website on my computer (Nortons won't allow me and settings ?? are confusing at best.)
I see the SE version is 2.2.3.6 icc 1207
Am attempting to copy onto thumb drive then put on my computer.
Hopefully it will work.

There's no good reason for the website to be blocked... I'd dump Norton if it won't let you 'whitelist' the site.
It's probably what's keeping you from being able to update.

The code I posted in #30 should work ok with your older 2.2.3.0 version.
For this, the SE version should work ok too. It's only limitation is the amount of ram (256 bytes).

IT won't compile
anything with CCPTMR

Lord help me. Against my better judgment....

1. Put the tone.bas module file and the example program file in the same directory. Do not change the name of tone.bas for any reason.

2. Compile only the example program in the same directory as tone.bas. Tone.bas will take care of itself without your help or interference.

As any explanations will not be read, none will be given.

As vistor said, Tone.bas is a module, not the main program. You can't compile a module by itself.

Compile the example code in post #25

I still get the same errors.
Going to try and get the updated SF compiler 2.2.3.6 icp 1207

It works in Version 2.2.3.4 ICC 1.2.0.4.

If you are getting the same error, you didn't follow exactly the steps in post #36. Follow those steps exactly as written.

Going to try and get the updated SF compiler 2.2.3.6 icp 1207
You don't have to. The main example program compiles with V2.2.3.0 .

Have you copied the example code shown in the post, save it to a file, and compile it?
What device do you have it set for? The CCPTMRS0 register is in the 18F43K22 (all of the K22 devices, actually)

If you downloaded the SE version you got SE 2.2.3.6, and it compiles ok there too.
Post another screen shot
