Create this circuit for me

I think what I will do it just connect one LED to led outputs 1 and 2, connect the 1st and 2nd LED to output 3 and 4, disconnect the 1st led and illuminate the 2nd LED for outputs 5 and 6, etc. I dont need anything precise, just need to know when I'm in the range of acceptable angle of attack
 
Do you need just three leds? Could you not simply put six or seven and be done with all the culprits of the LM3914 when you nedd to merge more outputs together?
 
Actually I stumbled across a guy on the web who had already done what it is I'm looking to do. I think I would have arrived at something similar to this eventually but nice to have the ground work done already.
