Tripath could not compete with Texas Instruments and many other huge established IC manufacturers. So they failed.

But did you like the chips?

I found out about Tripath only after they went bankrupt.
The spec's for their switching amplifiers were OK but not very good.

National Semi have some excellent linear power amplifier ICs.
Texas Instruments have some very good class-D power amplifier ICs.
