Simplest car wiring I can think of:
This will require a "Stop Block" (SB) that the car is backed up to (but NOT touching) when you start the run to the wall. When the car hits the wall, the DPDT switch is reversed, thereby reversing the direction of the motor.
When the car returns to the SB, the NC switch is opened, stopping the car.
This will, of course, require that the car's path runs true in both directions, i.e., two opposing wheels on one driven axle.
Anything more sophisticated will require, at the least, some manner of counter circuit(s) - wholly different ballgame.
